Below are neighborhoods and communities of interest in the City of Glendale that have been identified by the public. All public comments are gathered at the public hearings, community workshops and via email at mapglendale@glendaleca.gov.

Emerald Isle, Chevy Chase Canyon

El Miradero Neighborhood. Considered the Westside of Glendale, we are the last street in Glendale (Alameda Ave.) on the Glendale/Burbank border. Our landmarks consist of the Kenneth Village and Brand Park/Library. Our community school is Balboa Elementary.

Single family neighborhoods have different issues than multi-family, apartment building residents and owners.

Largely single family residences, smaller property square footage

More input and opinions / general

This neighborhood is very distinctly dense, more walkable and bikeable than other parts of the city. The area is lower income and bears an outsized brunt of vehicular traffic and is negatively impacted by nearby highways.

As a renter who lives in the City of Glendale, I believe a renter should be on the City Council in order to protect the renter’s interest.

To have open space and not be overcrowded. Be able to safely walk to Brand Park and Kenneth Village. Have activities and services to participate in locally.

Uptick in safety issues, including homeless

Want Glendale to be a safe city for everyone

It is important to structure our city in a way that most reasonably accommodates peoples’ lifestyles and urban environments. This dense neighborhood is park poor, prone to pollution from highways and major arterials, and does not have adequate amenities to alleviate climate impacts, pollution, and provides very little reasonable transportation alternatives despite being so dense and walkable.

HOUSING IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE IN MY COMMUNITY. HIGH RENTS, HOUSING SHORTAGE, AND LANDLORDS’ GREED MAKE OUR COMMUNITY WHICH HAS GREAT CULTURAL VALUES FACE THE RENTERS WHO STRUGGLE TO PAY THEIR RENT AND ARE ON THE VERGE OF EVICTION.
